New Director of Junior Tennis Selected for Bose Tennis/LRYCC

Danny Colten

Danny Colten has been selected as the new Bose Tennis, Director of Junior Tennis for Lake Region Yacht and Country Club.

Danny comes to us from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California with a degree in Business Administration while playing on the NCAA collegiate tennis team that was ranked top 4 in the nation.

Danny is also a strength and conditioning coach and will offer strength and fitness classes. Danny has experience developing junior programs and players up to the national level and has worked with high performance training.

He previously was the assistant coach at APU, his collegiate alma mater; Nike Junior Camps; and instructor at numerous country clubs. He has also worked with professional players ranked as high as 150 in the world.

Casino Night

Lake Region Yacht & Country Club will be hosting Casino Night on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Featuring the 137th Running of the Kentucky Derby, the event will be from 5:30pm to 10pm.

Funds raised for this event directly impact the community projects and membership development of the Junior League of Greater Winter Haven.

Men’s Member Guest Golf Tournament

Lake Region Yacht and Country Club’s Men’s Member Guest Golf Tournament will be held on March 10th, 11th and 12th. The cost of this two man team round robin even will be $390 per team. This price includes 45 holes of golf, lunch both days, closest to the pin contests, stag night on Thursday, a shootout for flight winners and other prizes.

Volunteers needed for the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic

The Florida’s Natural Charity Classic will kick-off the 2011 LPGA Futures Tour season, held right here in Winter Haven at Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. This professional tournament will consist of three (3) rounds beginning Friday, March 25 and concluding Sunday, March 27. A cut will be made on Saturday, March 26 to the top 70 players plus ties. This is a wonderful opportunity for our club and we need to ensure the golf tournament is a success!

The Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation will once again serve as the benefiting charity.

We are looking for volunteers to help make this a successful tournament for the professional women golfers and the foundation. For your efforts you will receive a golf shirt, a hat, a meal during your shift, and one complimentary round of golf at Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. All we ask is that each volunteer pay a fee of $25.00 so the expense associated with having volunteers does not take away from the contribution being made to the charity. If you are unable to volunteer, please come out and watch these unbelievable professional women golfers, March 25 – March 27. For those interested in playing with one of the professionals, a limited number of spots in the Pro-Am are still available for Thursday, March 24th starting at 2:00pm. For $1,800 a foursome, or $900 for a two players, you can play with a professional golfer at the beautiful Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. Another way you can help to support the tournament is to house one of the professionals during tournament week. This is a really fun way to get involved with the pros. Host families are asked to provide a warm safe bed, a smile, and fantastic Polk County hospitality. These young athletes are so sweet and such a joy.
